Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, or another related field; or an associate's degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, or another related field and two years of directly related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of directly related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a standard office or clinical environment.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with patients, families, providers, and healthcare team colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Establish close relationships with patients and serve as their primary point of contact.
  • Identify payer populations based on regional payer mix by collecting and analyzing market data.
  • Verify insurance benefits and ensure coverage for obesity treatment.
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance payer precertification requirements for medications, diagnostic testing, surgery, and referrals, and proactively review policy changes to prevent certification delays.
  • Educate providers and staff on payer regulations to help prevent denials.
  • Identify patient resources and help patients navigate healthcare services to remove barriers to care.
  • Coordinate appointments across service lines when applicable.
  • Schedule and adjust patient appointments, including coordinating laboratory or diagnostic testing, ensuring appointment adherence, making reminder calls, and managing the patient waitlist.
  • Monitor assigned patients who are admitted, round on them daily, and assist with scheduling discharge appointments.
  • Assist with filling prescriptions and assess prescription cost and availability.
  • Document patient information and obtain outside records as needed.
  • Engage family and community resources to address patients' emotional, social, and financial needs.
  • Collaborate with social services on resource and financial management, including financial assistance coordination and referrals, entitlement program coordination and referrals, patient benefit coordination, assessment of healthcare resource use, and clinical cost efficiency.
  • Perform other department-specific duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management or Public Health.
  • Three years of experience in the healthcare field.
  • One year of experience in statistical data analysis.
