  • 3-5 years’ experience with commercial or utility-scale energy storage and solar PV development, design or construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or other engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated understanding of the market for commercial and utility-scale energy storage engineering services
  • Experience with designing and modeling renewable energy coupled with energy storage
  • Experience and familiarity with commercially available storage technologies
  • Working knowledge of fire and building codes, electrical standards (UL/IEEE) and National Electrical Code, U.S. utility interconnection standards
  • Familiarity with Lean problem-solving techniques and tools and excellent problem-solving skills

Responsibilities
  • Translating the specifications of OEMs into technical specifications for regional applications
  • Creating standard operating procedures and tools that empower internal stakeholders and enable them to work effectively and efficiently toward developing new projects
  • Defining and maintaining energy storage equipment standards to be used by the design engineering team
  • Collaborating with the New Leaf Energy team and vendors to maintain accurate and competitive cost models to facilitate costing for new projects
  • Providing value engineering and other technical sales support for design engineering, project developers, and the finance team
  • Supporting the evaluation of new equipment components and other direct cost reduction initiatives with key stakeholders from electrical and design engineering teams
  • Defining standard engineering deliverables that enable our project teams to dramatically improve their execution efficiency
  • Managing and solving key challenges that arise during development, and creating a central location to store that knowledge
  • Training new engineers on our energy storage systems and designs
  • Learning from internal customers in the office and in the field, and managing closed feedback loops to continuously improve our standard product design and deliverables
  • Participating in interdisciplinary Kaizen events to improve our process.
