Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 13 years of related design and management experience, or a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of related design and management experience.
  • Experience managing a multifunctional engineering development group and managing a team of engineers across the product lifecycle from conception through production.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience designing microwave circuits for passive components such as filters, power splitters, couplers, and transformers operating to the millimeter-wave range.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience designing radio frequency filters.
  • Strong real-world laboratory analysis and debugging experience to verify simulated performance.
  • Experience managing simultaneous projects of varying complexities.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required due to International Traffic in Arms Regulations compliance.
  • Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem-solving, and change-management skills.
  • The ability to build relationships and work successfully with members outside the direct reporting structure.
  • The ability and willingness to comply with company safety initiatives and code of conduct.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the design of radio frequency and microwave circuits, components, and subassemblies focused on filters, power splitters, couplers, and baluns.
  • Improve existing designs for performance, quality, manufacturability, production yields, and cost.
  • Direct and manage circuit, component, and subassembly analysis and simulation efforts using electronic design automation software, including PSpice, Method of Moments, finite element method engines, Genesys, Advanced Design System, HFSS, CST, and other computer-aided design tools.
  • Develop multiphysics simulation models, designs of experiments, and technology characterization efforts to forecast production-level and field performance.
  • Manage a library of finite element method and Method of Moments simulation models for connectors, printed circuit boards, low-temperature cofired ceramics, calibration standards, wire bonds, and lumped components.
  • Create and implement design flows and strategies to reduce turnaround times, increase component performance and first-spin success, ensure manufacturability, improve yields, and lower costs.
  • Own the team’s design approach, topology selection criteria, technology choices, design-time budgeting, and overall technical approach while meeting deadlines and resolving performance issues.
  • Research and use current techniques, analyze user input, establish performance standards, and develop processes to verify and validate designs through simulations, tests, and reliability studies.
  • Provide technical support to Production, Quality, Reliability, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Engineering Test, and Manufacturing Process Engineering departments.
  • Prepare application notes, technical articles, test plans, and catalog specifications for publication.
  • Guide device and material qualification efforts and manufacturability reviews with Operations, Quality Assurance, Reliability, and Strategic Sourcing groups.
  • Evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
  • Map competing technologies and develop a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats analysis of current low-temperature cofired ceramic offerings.
  • Lead and participate in design review meetings.
  • Provide technical support directly to customers.
  • Promote and contribute to the patent and intellectual property program.
  • Resolve technical, operational, and design-group issues.
  • Execute design and development projects effectively.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and team members are held accountable.
  • Provide guidance and execution for the product roadmap.
  • Define the annual capital expenditure, personnel, and development budgets for the LTCC Design Team with the Director of Engineering, and track and execute against the defined budget.
  • Manage the LTCC Design Team across multiple simultaneous projects with competing priorities.
  • Supervise, train, direct, and mentor Design and Applications Engineers, sales, and marketing members.
  • Define objectives, track team-member results, and propose performance metrics and key performance indicators for the design team.
  • Organize and lead the Design Team by delegating assignments and providing guidance to achieve project objectives within established timelines, budgets, and policies.
  • Determine skills, workload expectations, and performance rewards for new and current group members.
  • Keep projects focused and manageable.
  • Manage design documentation, qualification tests, validation reports, and supporting analysis in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Provide technical vision and direction to align the design team with the LTCC Business Unit and company strategy.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of related design and management experience is preferred.
  • Experience working for an ISO company that practices lean manufacturing.
  • Experience developing products under a Phase Gated Process.
  • Experience with circuit simulation and both 2.5D and 3D electromagnetic simulation techniques.

Mini-Circuits Launches Wideband Digital Step Attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz

Mini-Circuits launches wideband digital step attenuator from 0.1 to 24 GHz. Mini-Circuits has introduced the ZX76-24G-30-S+, a 50 ohm coaxial solid-state digital step attenuator designed for wideband RF applications spanning 0.1 to 24 GHz. Engineered for precision and flexibility, the attenuator offers programmable attenuation from 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps, providing fine control over signal levels across a wide frequency range. The ZX76-24G-30-S+ features a 6-bit parallel control interface that requires no external clock and supports dual (+3.3 V / -3.0 V) or single-supply operation (+3.3 V to +5.4 V). Built for durability in demanding environments, it delivers high input IP3 performance of +50 dBm, good return loss (typical 15 dB), and glitch-free attenuation transitions, making it well-suited for test instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and defense applications such as radar, EW, ECM, and SATCOM systems. The device's robust design also ensures immunity to latch-up and stable operation from 0°C to +50°C, while supporting input power levels up to +22 dBm. It operates with an insertion loss as low as 3 dB (typically) up to 13 GHz and 4.5 dB (typically) up to 24 GHz. To simplify integration, Mini-Circuits includes a CBL-5FT-MPD+ pigtail control cable, featuring stripped wire ends and a pre-mounted connector for easy interface with the attenuator's 10-pin digital control port. Compact and rugged, the ZX76-24G-30-S+ combines precision, programmability, and wide frequency coverage, enabling engineers to achieve reliable signal conditioning in both laboratory and field setups.
