Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in transportation consulting, including significant leadership responsibility for business development and team growth in Canada.
  • A proven track record of securing large-scale consulting assignments in Canadian markets.
  • Experience advising clients on transportation strategy, policy, and planning issues.
  • A strong Canadian transportation market network.
  • Proven leadership in building and scaling teams.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • A deep understanding of Canadian transportation policy, funding, and delivery models.
  • Willingness to travel within Canada and to the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy to expand Steer's Canadian market presence in current and emerging business lines.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key public- and private-sector decision-makers across Canada.
  • Anticipate and respond to Canadian market trends, regulatory changes, and funding opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation and delivery of proposals and presentations tailored to Canadian clients.
  • Negotiate and secure high-value contracts aligned with commercial objectives.
  • Oversee project delivery to align with client expectations and mentor project managers toward successful and profitable project outcomes.
  • Build and scale the Canadian consulting team to meet growing demand and strategic priorities.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop staff across service areas, with a focus on leadership succession and specialized expertise.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture within the Canadian offices.
  • Ensure staff have opportunities for career growth and exposure to challenging, high-impact projects.
  • Coordinate business development efforts and share market intelligence with senior leaders across North America.
  • Represent Steer at Canadian industry conferences, government roundtables, and other public forums.
  • Promote Steer's brand through professional networks and speaking opportunities.
