Requirements
  • 10+ years as a hands-on mechanical engineer, designing and building complex dynamic systems, with experience ideally focused on precision systems and systems that automate a physical process, demonstrating repeatability.
  • 8+ years in a highly technical managerial role with a proven track record of building and leading high-performance mechanical engineering teams in a cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading a team of engineers through the development of a complex and respectable product from concept to market.
  • Substantial experience recruiting and hiring exceptional senior/staff/principal-level mechanical engineers.
  • Given the multi-physics and multidisciplinary nature of what we are doing, you will need strong curiosity coupled with a propensity to rapidly ascend learning curves in areas new to you.
  • Excellent ownership behavior to internalize company goals and needs and then shape reality to your plans to achieve those goals, whether through innovating out of technical boxes, hiring engineers on to the team, working with the broader leadership team to develop strong plans, rapidly experimenting to find answers to outstanding questions and more.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including presentation of technical content.
  • Passion for startup environments and able to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
  • Intellectually honest and highly trustworthy.
  • At least a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Responsibilities
  • Internalize and contribute to the Matter Compiler architecture, associated system model simulation / digital twins and details of our first micro-device.
  • Lead the engineering team to design/build/deploy all Nodes required for manufacturing of our first device at high volume.
  • Provide high-quality management to team members (primarily principal-level ICs and IC managers) to consistently execute with high performance against company goals and in alignment with company values.
  • Establish organizational growth plan based on company goals and hire exceptional engineers and engineering leaders into the team per the plan.
  • Drive out “white space” in development efforts and utilize our unique Hybrid Fab environment to develop Nodes in a truly agile fashion, working within the company’s Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Our engineering leaders are deeply technical themselves, and in the details of the work, they represent their teams extremely well and play a key role in technical problem-solving.

Atomic Machines develops machines for atomically precise manufacturing (APM), which allows for the creation of physical objects directly from digital designs. Their technology focuses on microfabrication, particularly in producing Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), which are small mechanical devices used in various industries like automotive and healthcare. Unlike traditional methods that rely on silicon, Atomic Machines offers a more efficient approach to fabrication. They cater to a diverse clientele in high-tech sectors, providing advanced fabrication solutions that emphasize precision and scalability. The company's goal is to redefine manufacturing standards by delivering innovative machines and custom solutions that enhance efficiency and accuracy in production.
