Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Four years of experience in a trade is required.
  • An applicable license is required, or the employee must be able to obtain one during the first year of employment.
  • The ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision is required.
  • A valid Texas driver's license and insurability under the Texas State Technical College liability policy are required.
  • The employee must comply with safety standards and building codes.
  • The employee must be able to perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting of 30 to 60 pounds, often in awkward positions.
  • The employee must tolerate regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
  • The employee must complete federal Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 and present acceptable original documents proving identity and authorization to work in the United States.
  • A criminal history background check is required for finalists.
Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate Texas State Technical College's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.
  • Conduct facility inspections to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks to keep college facilities and equipment safe, functional, and well-maintained.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes.
  • Lead maintenance projects and coordinate tasks among maintenance staff.
  • Assist in training and guiding maintenance staff.
  • Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
  • Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs and provide regular updates to the supervisor.
  • Perform physically demanding maintenance tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting of 30 to 60 pounds, often in awkward positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
