This is a paid internship at our South San Francisco headquarters. The program is for approximately 10-12 weeks beginning in late May/early June.
The experience will introduce the individual to potential career pathways at Cytokinetics and offer ample opportunities for cross-functional collaboration, networking and career development.

Global Marketing and Commercial Strategy
- TheGlobal Marketing and Commercial Strategyorganization within Commercial provides many critical functions key to the success of the business. The intern will focus on projects from one of the following areas:
- Marketing Science: Scope, design and execute primary marketing research and/or data analytics to generate actionable insights that drive a key decision for the commercial organization.
- Forecasting and Analytics: Provide forecasting and analytical support for pipeline programs, cross-functionally track and communicate business performance, and create performance “dashboards” and visualization tools.
- Commercial Strategy: Shape and influence how we deliver launch materials and processes to the US and EU Regions. The role will balance both strategy and execution, provide an opportunity to work directly with various members of the cross-functional Global Commercial Team and expose the individual to processes needed to support the launch of a pharmaceutical product.
Sales & Sales Operations Team
- The Sales and Sales Operations Team is responsible for engaging customers in the US Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) marketplace.
- Work with the Commercial Learning and Development team providing Learning Lab support. Projects may include working with the coordinator to develop commercial materials, assignments, and expiring materials.
- Assist in development of healthcare provider engagement plans and profiling.
- Provide Market Access and Marketing Training planning and logistics support.
Marketing, Marketing Operations & Omnichannel Strategy
- The US Marketing team within Commercial leads development and execution of marketing strategy for pipeline assets in the US. The intern will focus on projects from the following areas, providing a multifaceted internship experience.
- Identify market trends impacting customer engagement and evaluate innovative customer-facing solutions or external partnerships for pipeline assets.
- Develop framework and build cross-functional, commercial US launch plans for the HCM program.
- Learn about the brand strategy for the heart failure product in development by Cytokinetics.
- Develop omnichannel and social media engagement plans and execute against those plans. Assess impact of omnichannel plan and identify opportunities for digital pilot programs.
- Assist with implementation of the market research with healthcare providers and patients and work closely with the marketing leads and agency to design appropriate resources based on research feedback. Partner with the marketing lead and agency to secure approval of the resource.
- Understand and participate in the process of content development, Medical/Legal/Regulatory review and approval of materials.
- Assist with tracking of launch scorecards.
- The role will balance both strategy and execution, provide an opportunity to work directly with a creative agency and expose the individual to core marketing concepts within the biotech industry.
Global Value Access & Distribution (GVAD)
- The Global Value Access & Distribution team is at the forefront one of the most exciting and most debated areas of healthcare today: drug pricing and global access to pharmaceuticals.
- The GVAD team co-leads Commercial planning for our pipeline assets, including development of payer strategies and informing development plans that increase the likelihood of reimbursement and maximize asset value.
- Assess various channel strategies for the Cytokinetics portfolio and for trade and distribution customers.
- Develops and executes financial support and reimbursement programs to ensure patients can gain access to therapies.
Requirements
- BA or BS Degree Required
- Current enrollment in an MBA, MPH or graduate pharmacy program
- Candidate must have completed at least one year of coursework by Summer 2024 and be registered for fall semester
- Excellent strategic and analytical and critical thinking skills and strong interpersonal written, verbal and negotiation/influencing skills.
- Strong collaboration, project management, organization skills, ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines, prioritize activities and operate with minimal supervision
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS Project
- Strong experience in utilizing WebEx, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and /or other meeting collaboration technology
Hourly pay range: $22-45/hour. Actual pay at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.
