Summary

Reporting to the Head of Research Informatics, the Senior Engineer will help deliver innovative and sustainable informatics solutions and workflows to our drug discovery project teams. The informatics landscape at Tango consists of both internally developed as well as licensed commercial applications that are used by project teams for scientific data analysis. The successful candidate must have a solid foundation in software engineering to develop and deploy functional informatics workflows. In addition, the candidate is expected to have a healthy enthusiasm about technology to pursue creative solutions to help scientists drive drug discovery projects. A critical component of the job will be close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to help maintain an integrated and efficient research data environment.

Your Role:

• As a member of the informatics team, you will develop and maintain informatics software solutions to enable scientific data analysis
• Work with commercial vendors to install, configure, and support scientific software
• Maintain data integration pipelines and ETL processes. Help to develop automation strategies and standards to ensure reliable data transfer across the organization and between external partners
• Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate with scientists and vendors on a resolution
• Support scientists with project data analysis and visualization workflows
• Additional duties and responsibilities as required

What You Bring:

• Bachelors’ degree in computer science or other life science-related technical discipline with at least 7 years’ experience or Masters’ degree with at least 5 years’ experience required
• In-depth experience with relational databases, ETL, and data integration required
• Demonstrated software engineering experience in Python, preferably using Django or similar web framework, required. Familiarity with React desirable
• Familiarity with good software engineering practices, including version control, automated testing, and documentation required
• Familiarity or interest in cheminformatics, drug discovery, or related disciplines preferred
• Experience with pharmaceutical R&D data management and enterprise IT environments preferred
• Full-stack web development experience preferred
• AWS cloud computing experience preferred
