Requirements
  • Four or more years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Available for approximately 20% travel.
  • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance use, and employment.
  • Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for a United States Government security clearance; only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Supports the Office of Facilities and Asset Management's director of Technical Services and other TS managers as a technical advisor and subject matter expert for civil engineering matters.
  • Responsible for reviewing engineering designs, proposed installations, and in-place systems, infrastructure and facilities and providing associated recommendations.
  • Assists with planning, design review and construction oversight of OFAM's projects, both large capital projects and smaller maintenance and repair projects.
  • Supports the development and preparation of statements of work and cost estimates related to proposed engineering solutions; reviews the same from other stakeholders.
  • Interacts with other stakeholders, notably staff within OFAM (HQ and field), business partners (USBP, OFO, AMO) and other consultants and contractors.
  • Serves as a program expert and spokesperson for technical engineering and construction related issues with responsibility to present, explain, and defend to higher-level officials in CBP, DHS, and other government agencies and interested public groups.
  • Collaborates with service providers, including General Services Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers throughout the project life cycles.
  • Maintains an ongoing, high-paced book of work of engineering assignments and must maintain and report status on an ongoing list of assigned work.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, briefings, and other communication materials to share outcomes and results of various engineering efforts.
Desired Qualifications
  • A current Professional Engineer license or Engineer-In-Training certification.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
