Requirements
  • A valid Child Development Site Supervisor Permit, an equivalent qualification, or the ability to obtain the permit within 90 days of employment is required.
  • A minimum of 3 semester or equivalent units related to the care of infants is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching in an early childhood education setting is required.
  • At least 3 years of management experience is required.
  • Experience with current assessment tools, including DRDP, ERS, ASQ-3/SE, CLASS, and NAEYC, is required.
  • Ability to pass Title 22 medical and immunization clearance is required.
  • Ability to pass state and federal clearance is required.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, supervise, and implement the program in accordance with agency philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain a high-quality child development program that complies with California, federal, funding, and contract requirements; prepare timely reports; and evaluate program performance to recommend improvements.
  • Oversee the site's day-to-day operations, administrative records, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the management team to coordinate and evaluate center processes, policies, procedures, enrollment policies, and program policies.
  • Supervise all site staff, manage daily schedules and time-off requests, arrange substitutes, deploy floaters, and ensure compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program and food safety standards.
  • Assist with grant applications under the direction of the Program Director.
  • Conduct tours and orient new families and staff.
  • Model warm, respectful, and effective interactions with children and families, and guide staff and volunteers to uphold these standards.
  • Oversee and support staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating curriculum and assessments; review lesson plans, conduct classroom observations, and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Support department-wide training, coach and mentor site staff, and conduct regular classroom observations.
  • Monitor staff performance, complete annual evaluations, set professional development goals with staff, and provide ongoing support.
  • Facilitate staff meetings and maintain agendas, sign-in sheets, and minutes.
  • Review and ensure classroom DRDP Summaries of Findings, child progress reports, and portfolios are accurate and complete.
  • Complete and submit required reports on time and maintain organized, up-to-date child, staff, CACFP, meeting, training, curriculum, and assessment records.
  • Coordinate with external specialists and consultants to integrate services into classrooms and support collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Submit, monitor, and follow up on center maintenance requests and work orders.
  • Ensure staff follow health and safety procedures for food handling, toileting and diapering, handwashing, illness, and sickness protocols, and complete incident reports.
  • Plan and implement a comprehensive parent involvement program, including meetings, engagement activities, training, support, newsletters, communication, and home-program connections.
  • Represent the site to external funders and community partners as appropriate.
  • Engage families and staff in cultivating a strong sense of community within the site, across Wah Mei's early childhood programs, and throughout the agency.
  • Order, track, and maintain center supplies and inventory.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Program Director.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Chinese language skills are encouraged.
