Requirements
  • Travel of at least 33% is required, including local and nationwide travel, with possible international travel based on assignment.
  • The candidate must be a United States citizen and be willing to pursue or already possess a government security clearance.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or science is required.
  • Entry-level candidates through candidates with up to five years of experience are considered.
  • Excellent written and/or verbal communication skills are required; writing samples may be requested.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
  • The candidate must be able to work effectively both collaboratively and independently, including in a remote environment.
  • The candidate must have the physical ability to work at heights, use ladders or lifts, safely lift 20 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, work in confined spaces, crawl for extended periods, enter a 24-inch-diameter space, work outside in inclement weather, wear a respirator, and meet specified vision, dexterity, hearing, speaking, and smelling requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Work with other technical staff on projects for Department of Defense and government and commercial clients.
  • Assist with field inspections and demonstrations, proof-of-concept testing, research and literature reviews, data entry and analysis, presentation development, specification writing, prototype-device design, and project management or oversight.
  • Support projects addressing and preventing corrosion on air, ground, and sea weapons systems, naval vessels, and infrastructure assets.
  • Perform work primarily at the Reston office, customer facilities, and other off-site locations such as military installations and bridges or highway structures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial coating application or inspections and cathodic protection design or inspection.
  • Experience in corrosion, coatings, or materials science, together with prior military experience.
  • Demonstrable experience using basic hand tools and familiarity with electronic and mechanical systems and laboratory test equipment.
  • Experience with LabVIEW, computer-aided design and 3D modeling, Minitab, computer programming, and electronic circuitry.
