Job Introduction
Metro brings news, sport, analysis, features, opinion, and everything in between to a fast-growing global audience and we’re now looking for a talented Newsletter Producer to work in our London office.
As Newsletter Producer, you will assist the Newsletter Editor in the day to day production, management and development of Metro’s portfolio of 14 editorial newsletters.
Metro’s newsletters are sent to hundreds of thousands of readers every week, ranging from daily Soaps updates to our award-nominated weekly politics dispatch, Alright, Gov?. You will be responsible for crafting and curating engaging content that’s highly relevant to our newsletter subscribers, and sending out newsletters in accordance with the weekly schedule.
Responsibilities will include:
- Producing and writing Metro’s email newsletters across a wide variety of topics including News, Politics, Sports and Gaming
- Assisting the Newsletter Editor with the development of new newsletter products
- Working with commercial teams on partnerships to support newsletter monetisation, including ad placements
- Applying insights from analytical platforms to achieve editorial and commercial goals
- Liaising with writers across the newsroom and editing their newsletter copy prior to publication in accordance with high editorial standards
- Producing assets and copy as needed for newsletter promotions and crossover collaboration with external partners
Skills required:
- Excellent standards of written English, with the ability to develop and maintain a distinctive voice that fits with the Metro brand
- Understanding of media law and UK Editors’ Code of Practice
- Highly organised with the ability to write to tight deadlines
- Strong communication and people skills, with the ability to work productively within a team environment
- Interest in news curation, ability to spot stories that will resonate with segmented newsletter audiences
- Able to work flexible hours in a dynamic, fast-paced 24/7 news environment
- Previous experience with CMS and image editing software e.g. Canva, Photoshop
