Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Science, Radiology, or Business is required.
  • Professional certification or licensure as an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • At least five years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist and good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists are required.
  • At least seven years of direct leadership experience, including direct reports, operations, and financial responsibility, are required.
  • Experience in planning, construction, and equipment installations is required.
  • Analytic and critical thinking skills, process improvement experience, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and change management experience are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Radiology Information Systems, and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Radiology with all aspects of department operations and functions.
  • Oversee radiology operations across various modalities and UWMC Radiology campuses, including frequent travel to locations to assure consistent service standards, evaluate operations, and provide leadership and structure.
  • Provide leadership and direction in accordance with organizational goals, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Work on performance improvement activities within clinical sites in collaboration with department leadership, medical directors, supervisors, radiologists, staff, and other departments.
  • Work collaboratively with the Vice Chair of Radiology, Medical Directors, Faculty, and Director of Radiology to ensure department success.
  • Maintain accountability for the overall technical operation of the Radiology department, its modalities, and its locations within the scope of the role.
  • Oversee the management, maintenance, and improvement of Radiology business functions and processes.
  • Oversee the hospital billing and compliance process in Radiology.
  • Coordinate with the Director, Supervisors, Radiology Information Technology, quality assurance and quality control education coordinators, Physics, and Radiology Faculty to achieve integrated departmental operations.
  • Manage general operations across Radiology departments and sites, including patient and staff satisfaction, safety, patient flow, equipment utilization, and diagnostic quality.
  • Assist with developing and justifying fiscal budgets and achieving budget goals for Radiology cost centers.
  • Assist with managing revenue-cycle flow to ensure timely submission of charges.
  • Assist with guidance and oversight of human resources matters, policies, and practices, ensuring consistency for direct and indirect reports.
  • Oversee hiring, regular performance evaluations, performance improvement, employee counseling, staff development, and disciplinary processes; recommend termination or discharge in consultation with the Director.
  • Assist with adherence to compliance-program policies, procedures, standards of conduct, and applicable UW Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Radiology departments meet regulatory standards, including Joint Commission, Washington State Department of Health, and American College of Radiology standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Registry in multiple modalities.
  • Master of Business Administration, Master of Health Administration, or an equivalent graduate degree.
  • Academic and/or research experience.
  • Experience in a large hospital system.
