Requirements
  • Experience in hospital accounts receivable with government payors such as Medicare and Medicaid is required.
  • Three years of physician business office experience are required.
  • Thorough knowledge of third-party payers and payment posting processes for all major insurances is required.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • The employee must comply with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Train and coordinate activities related to third-party claim form formats, claim scrubbing, claim submission, claims editing, reimbursement, cash flow, follow-up, denials resolution, payment posting, and related correspondence.
  • Provide guidance to or assist accounts receivable specialists with the third-party claims submission process.
  • Assist in prioritizing work for ongoing maintenance of the Epic system.
  • Submit and follow up on claims in a timely manner when necessary.
  • Manage and maintain the systems and equipment needed by billing-office staff.
  • Handle training, productivity activities, and refresher courses for assigned staff after their initial training.
  • Identify system or procedural problems causing third-party claim rejections and formulate and implement plans to minimize or eliminate them.
  • Perform scheduled work and prioritize tasks to maximize cash flow.
  • Apply knowledge of third-party payer claims requirements, UB-04 and CMS-1500 requirements by payer, computer capabilities related to claims production, and admitting or medical-records input as it affects claims.
  • Assist in formulating staff corrective action and initiate periodic staff evaluations.
  • Serve as a backup to accounts receivable team members in the Physician or Hospital Business Office.

  • Previous experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite are preferred.
