Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience with extensive knowledge of construction techniques.
  • Several years of experience running heavy civil jobs.
  • Knowledge of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities.
  • Ability to utilize effective management techniques to maximize project performance.
  • Ability to travel to job sites and other locations.
  • Ability to perform the listed physical demands, including outdoor work, frequent standing and walking, lifting and moving up to 25 pounds, and using computers or other devices.
Responsibilities
  • Construct the project on time and within budget.
  • Review and approve construction methods and sequence of operations.
  • Coordinate manpower and equipment utilization.
  • Assist the project manager in conducting pre-construction and pre-planning meetings.
  • Understand the contractual scope of work and review plans and specifications.
  • Direct and supervise foremen.
  • Coordinate with the project manager, project engineer, and estimator.
  • Supervise and update the project schedule.
  • Interact with the owner's representatives and attend weekly owner meetings.
  • Coordinate subcontractor and district/division work and understand inclusions and exclusions.
  • Monitor job site safety compliance.
  • Maintain union relations.
  • Ensure timely project closeout and punch list finalization.
  • Review job costs and budget controls with the project manager and foreman.
  • Monitor timesheet processing and extra-work efficiency.
  • Apply effective management techniques to maximize project performance.
  • Use organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to perform the role.
  • Perform leadership, coaching, employee development, conflict resolution, problem solving, time management, multitasking, adaptability/change management, decisiveness, stress management, performance management, and interpersonal-awareness activities.
