Requirements
  • Three to five years of related safety experience, ideally within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of legislated safety requirements in applicable jurisdictions.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Effective communication with management and peers.
  • A detail-oriented focus with strong analytical expertise.
  • The ability to work toward success with minimal supervision.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct new-employee safety orientations and arrange additional training as necessary.
  • Assist supervisors with Hazard Assessments and Job Safety Analysis.
  • Conduct site inspections to identify potentially unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure resolution of identified issues.
  • Conduct monthly health and safety audits to assess the effectiveness of the company safety program and identify areas for improvement.
  • Investigate and timely report all incidents and accidents, including personal injuries, property damage, and near misses.
  • Organize and facilitate regular toolbox talks.
  • Participate in monthly Joint Health and Safety meetings and communicate safety information to division managers.
  • Assist in managing employees’ return-to-work programs on site to support recovery and return to work.
  • Travel to worksites and business locations within the Maritimes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A professional safety designation such as CSS, CSO, NCSO, or CRSP.
