Requirements
  • Extensive technical knowledge and prior experience in controls project design
  • High level of computer skills and understanding of computer-operated systems and engineering design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, VISIO, EDS)
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to mentor and aid in the development of junior level Design Engineers
  • Valid California driver's license
  • Ability to read construction blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, File Structure, AutoCAD, VISIO
  • Strong aptitude and experience with TCP/IP network structure and web navigation
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
  • Lead Design Engineer in the production of controls systems design drawings, sequence of operations and submittals for large and complex control systems
  • Research and select control system peripherals
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications
  • Collaborate with project team members to identify additional options for the customer
  • Analyze and advise Project Manager regarding control application strategy
  • Perform modification of controls designs to reflect field changes
  • Generate Operation & Maintenance manuals at project close
  • Manage time and costs budgets for assigned project tasks
  • Provide pre-sales technical project development support
  • Provide design solutions to field technicians and/or systems software engineers
  • Communicate effectively with project team members
  • Submit daily and/or weekly summary of work reports
  • Manage weekly time allocations to multiple assigned projects
  • Practice safe work habits and participate in office safety program
  • Attend and complete OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training classes
  • Take personal responsibility for training and development plans
  • Coach, mentor and develop junior level Design Engineers
  • Support Technical Services Manager in internal administrative activities
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude and thorough understanding of controls systems
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of the ALC product line and requirements as well as other vendor products, systems and protocols
