Requirements
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, motors, pumps, lighting, and building envelope
  • Familiarity with applicable standards
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Advanced Professional track)
  • Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience (Senior Professional track)
  • A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check; ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • No visa sponsorship available by Penn State
  • Position can be based at multiple Penn State campuses; expected to work on campus for first six months, followed by potential hybrid arrangement
  • This position can be based at any of the listed Penn State campuses
Responsibilities
  • Conduct technical reviews of energy audit reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with PennTAP standards
  • Verify site assessment data, equipment inventories, and energy analysis tools for correctness
  • Review energy conservation measures (ECMs) for technical feasibility, savings calculations, and cost estimates
  • Ensure findings are clearly documented with well-supported assumptions and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain quality control checklists and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with technical advisors and leadership to identify and address quality issues early
  • Perform spot-check validations, including occasional site visits if required
  • Provide feedback and training to advisors to improve future data collection and analysis practices
  • Maintain project documentation for internal and external audits
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to refine assessment processes and tools
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Building Science, or related field
  • Experience in energy audits, building assessments, or commissioning
  • Experience with Measurement and Verification
  • Knowledge of utility incentive programs
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Certified Energy Manager certification
