Position Summary:
As a Tech Lead for the Data Science team you’ll have the opportunity to work with a number of teams answering a variety of analytics questions that help us design, build and understand our products. You will help teams answer their own questions by designing and directing the construction of data pipelines and interfaces.
In this role you will foster an agile team of data scientists, work with product managers to prioritize incoming requests and design technical roadmaps, and you will be the Technical Lead for Data Science in the See & Spray organization. You will champion this team, celebrating wins and learning from setbacks. We believe in continuous improvement and are seeking a motivated person who wishes to grow their own skills while helping Deere deliver on its vision for helping farmers feed the world.
Position Responsibility:

Be the Technical and Managerial Lead for a growing and collaborative team of Data Scientists aimed at supporting the various research and product functions of the See & Spray organization.

Architect, design, and deliver production-ready analytic pipelines and machine learned solutions. Define requirements for Data Engineering teams.

Work with large and disparate engineering data. Enable our agronomic, machine learning, robotics software and product teams to make better data driven decisions.

Be a vocal, visible presence in collaborating with product managers, engineers, and other internal stakeholders of our team.

Communicate clearly and often your team’s findings and methodologies to stakeholders at multiple levels.

Provide technical guidance, mentorship and supervision for data scientists. Actively peer review science within the team.

Assist in the development of our technology by designing and conducting data driven experiments, proving out the utility of new technologies.
Requirements:

Management, mentoring, or tech leadership experience.

5+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent role, with experience building software and using data pipelines.

Experience with geospatial, time series, or image datasets.

Experience with some of: state estimation, Monte Carlo analyses, information entropy, computer vision machine learning applications.

Stellar Communication skills - building relationships, technical guides or documentation, results oriented presentations for internal and external platforms.

Comfortable presenting work to a variety of audiences - from small teams to senior leadership or at conferences.

The US base salary range for this position is $148,000 - $264,000, along with eligibility for Blue River’s bonus and benefit programs.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
