Requirements
  • The applicant must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at Texas A&M University.
  • Previous laboratory experience is required, although laboratory-specific training will be provided.
  • The applicant must be able to follow instructions, work with minimal instruction, and manage time effectively.
  • The applicant must be willing to perform both technical and routine laboratory tasks.
  • The applicant must be able to stand for extended periods during laboratory work.
Responsibilities
  • Assist researchers and laboratory scientists with daily laboratory tasks and experimental workflows.
  • Prepare and process samples for analysis using a variety of techniques and instruments.
  • Perform basic laboratory work such as weighing, pipetting, labeling, organizing samples, and logging data.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of laboratory benches, the autoclave room, the microscopy laboratory, and common instrument areas.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine cleaning and calibration.
  • Assist with autoclaving laboratory waste and sterilizing materials.
  • Receive and log incoming packages and samples and prepare outgoing shipments.
  • Help manage inventory, restock supplies, and keep records up to date.
  • Lift and move laboratory equipment or supplies weighing up to approximately 25 pounds when needed.
  • Follow laboratory safety guidelines and help ensure compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Contribute to maintaining an organized and functional research environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A major in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, Food Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Sciences, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
