Requirements
  • Senior-level experience with SQL Server database development/administration in an enterprise environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct issues within the database environment quickly and accurately to achieve resolution in a timely manner
  • Writing efficient queries using modern SQL Server features in SQL 2017-2022
  • Extensive knowledge of Query Optimization (execution plans, parallelism, indexing, partitioning, etc)
  • SQL Server DDL/DML Programming
  • SQL Server administration includes basic functions such as backups, data file administration and more complex functions such as reindexing cycles and SQL Server data store analysis
  • SQL Server storage and archiving strategies to ensure that size and performance are held properly in check
  • Understanding how applications interact with the SQL Server database engine
  • Familiarity with configuration management principles and the impact such configurations have on the environment
  • Real-world experience with SQL Server Always On and Availability Group
  • Solid understanding of security and different levels of access and what it implies to have and limit such access
  • Solid understanding of computer networking, as it applies to client-to-database connectivity and configuration, firewall traversal and troubleshooting, and SQL Server network stack configuration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work on complex tasks alone or/and supervise other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Willingness to continually learn, train, and practice new skills to improve your capability as well as HPE's collective strength
  • Ability to define, publish, and enforce standards and best practices for SQL Server to include security, patching, setup, configuration, and continued operations
  • Ability to determine balancing and designing shared database systems, including density and performance considerations
  • Ability to recognize saturation and sub-optimal performance, causes and solutions and work with varying teams to include network, storage, backup, and windows teams to resolve
  • Ability to plan, conceive, architect, and build complex systems for future SQL Server needs
Responsibilities
  • Manage database project development to multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems, to include architecture and deployment considerations
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time and proactively in a 24X7 environment, including databases that are mission critical with minimal downtime
  • Actively participate in discussions to solve problems, propose changes in processes and code, and produce better, more robust business applications
  • Review SQL Server response time, utilization and efficiency with other DBA and application team members to ensure smooth and reliable operation
  • Mentor HPE team members with regards to best-practices in SQL query writing, T-SQL code, and monitoring/data gathering to ensure optimal database function
  • Effectively work both independently with minimal supervision, as well as working within a team environment
