Requirements
  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
  • Completion of accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship.
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology.
  • Able to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio.
  • Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Responsibilities
  • Direct and provide direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings for breast oncology.
  • Conduct ambulatory clinics and interviews, obtain and review medical history of patients; perform physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs.
  • Perform relevant oncology procedures and order special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services.
  • Respond to consultation requests and determine, prescribe and implement treatment plans and/or medications required.
  • Document all services and instructions provided in the medical record.
  • Educate patients and promote wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials, resources and services to patients and their families.
  • Direct and participate in quality assessment and improvement activities.
  • Serve as preceptor and provide bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate and graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of oncology.
  • Ensure continuing medical education requirements are met.
  • Participate in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.
