Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.
  • Physician Assistant or APRN with AGPNP/ANP or FNP options as described.
  • APRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state law.
  • Basic Life Support certification required; if applicable, DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day.
  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and two years clinical experience required, at least one year in a specialty area of care.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner specific to the area of employment required unless a new graduate; new graduates must be certification eligible and obtain certification within six months of employment.
  • licensure as a Registered Nurse and official recognition as a Nurse Practitioner from the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
Responsibilities
  • Provides direct care to patients including taking comprehensive history and performing physical examinations.
  • Evaluates and treats based on history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to practice agreement or scope of practice guideline.
  • Initiates referrals to other health care providers or consults with attending or collaborating physician.
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice.
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research.
  • Participates in accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization.
  • Precepts students and facilitates learning of other new team members.
  • Provide care to patients with oncology urgent needs and staffs rapid access clinic.
  • Provides coverage in the Hollings Cancer Center infusion suites and supervise infusion nurses.
  • Collaborates with ordering physician to manage infusion patients including chemo, fluids, and other medications; work with nursing and operation managers to instill teamwork across disciplines.
  • Coordinates initiation of therapy, reviews labs, and supports physician ordering; responsible for signing off on all infusion encounters.
  • Receive and triage infusion patient phone calls; respond to routine questions and refer complex issues to physician as necessary.
  • Rotating infusion suite coverage on weekends and holidays.
  • Participates in weekly tumor boards and team meetings.
  • Staff rotating weekend infusion suite and one holiday per year.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous hematology oncology Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred.
  • Experience with adult gerontology primary care or family primary care settings as described.
