The Job:  

As a Model Based Design Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll be part of our Tools & Outdoor Products organization working as a Hybrid employee.    We are co-located with our TOOLS and OUTDOOR teams at our engineering headquarters in Towson, Maryland.  We are a small, hands-on, diverse team of dedicated engineers responsible for advancing electrification through our core business.  We work closely with our marketing, engineering and business leader to identify new needs, to designing and prototyping tools to ensure we meet our customers high expectations, to creating robust tests to guarantee the tools we make stand up to the toughest environments, our engineers own every aspect of the process along the way.  You’ll get to:  

• Develop control algorithms through system modeling for power tool applications.
• Model and simulate BLDC motor control schemes using Matlab/Simulink.
• Develop system models and simulations for all phases of product development including prototyping, model testing, and system validation.
• Lead development of new technologies to reduce development time.
• Integration of systems and software, which includes system level debugging (software, electrical, and mechanical) problems with software diagnostics.
• Conduct system-level testing and validation through simulations
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Develop and maintain project timelines and deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 5-7+ years of experience in embedded systems design and development with 2+ years of experience with MathWorks Matlab/Simulink.
• Strong knowledge of embedded software development in C/C++.
• Understand the operation of electronic circuit components for use in a real-time, embedded product environment – Experience in brushless motor controls a plus
• Experience with microcontrollers and microprocessors.
• Experience with Atlassian products Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $ 85,500.00 - 154,000.00 USD Annual USD Annual per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
