The Oregon Health Authority has a fantastic opportunity for a Fiscal and Budget Intern to join an excellent team. This is a Full-Time, Temporary, Internship position with the Fiscal and Operations Division.
The AA Salary Range for this position is between $3,429.00 to $3,856.00 per month.
What you will do!
The Oregon Health Authority and its Fiscal Operations Division are seeking college students with diverse backgrounds for a paid, virtual summer internship program. We are looking for students who are interested in helping OHA strengthen its commitment to health equity and to achieve its goal of eliminating health inequities in Oregon by 2030. Students with diverse background, including students from different ethnicity groups, students of color and students from all geographic areas in Oregon are encouraged to apply.
This internship program is with the Financial Investments and Outcomes Office (FIOO) within the Fiscal Operations Division of the Oregon Health Authority. The intern will have an opportunity to learn how FIOO works to enhance budget transparency, reporting, and agency priority alignment across divisions and programs. Interns will perform work virtually in an 8-12 week program in FIOO.
All the assignments and projects for this internship position will be performed virtually and the intern will receive direct supervision to ensure this program is a success.
Students who are pursuing a finance, budget, business, health care, communications or related degrees are encouraged to apply.
This program will require the intern to have excellent communication skills, adaptability, and willingness to learn, as well as some basic technical skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook to perform budget projects and activities.

The internship program is part of the Fiscal Operation Division and Chief Financial Officer’s Office, which reports to the OHA Director. The CFO’s Office is responsible for implementation of OHA’s policies, budget, and the financial structures of the OHA Legislatively Adopted Budget. It includes the Budget Unit, which coordinates the development and oversight of OHA’s budget, the Office of Program Integrity, which prevents, detects and addresses fraud, waste and abuse and enforces regulatory compliance of the Medicaid programs and services, the Office of Financial and Actuarial Services which creates the actuarial rates for Coordinated Care Organizations (CCOs) and evaluates the financial status of each CCO, and the Financial Investments and Outcomes Office (FIOO). The purpose of FIOO is to integrate policy, strategy, and budgeting for OHA with the goal of heightening focus in policy and impact informed spending allocation, budgeting, and forecasting. This internship is with FIOO and will include exposure to other units within the CFO Office.
What we are looking for:
Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree in finance, budget, accounting, business, or related degree and entering junior year in Fall of 2025, or graduate degree in finance, budget, accounting, business, or related degree.

Requested Skills:
- Excellent customer service skills, adaptability, and willingness to learn state government Budget.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines and have flexibility, work demand tolerance and exhibit written and oral communication skills including effective communication with coworkers.
