Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in electronics inspection, automated optical inspection, or automated X-ray inspection operations within a contract manufacturing or similar environment is required.
  • IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification is required.
  • Strong understanding of IPC workmanship standards for Class 2 and Class 3 is required.
  • Hands-on experience with automated optical inspection and automated X-ray inspection equipment, such as Koh Young, YXLON, Orbotech, or similar systems, is required.
  • Ability to interpret inspection images and read blueprints, assembly drawings, and bills of materials is required.
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
  • Ability to detect subtle and hidden defects with strong attention to detail is required.
Responsibilities
  • Review job documentation, including manufacturing process instructions, deviations, engineering change orders, and customer requirements, before inspection.
  • Operate and set up automated optical inspection and automated X-ray inspection equipment to inspect printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Perform first article inspections and verify compliance with IPC-A-610 Class 2 and Class 3 requirements and customer standards.
  • Analyze inspection data and images to identify, classify, and disposition defects accurately.
  • Verify solder joint quality, component alignment, polarity, and hidden solder connections such as ball grid arrays and quad flat no-lead packages through automated optical and X-ray inspection systems.
  • Stop production and escalate immediately when major defects or systemic issues are identified.
  • Document inspection results, generate daily quality pass-downs, and communicate findings to leads and supervisors.
  • Raise and review technical inquiries for discrepancies and ensure jobs do not proceed without proper authorization.
  • Support bottleneck areas and other inspection needs as directed by the supervisor, engineer, or manager.
  • Follow and enforce procedures related to electrostatic discharge, moisture-sensitive device handling, housekeeping, safety, and equipment maintenance.
  • Suggest and support continuous process and quality improvements.
