Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience delivering Project Manager activities in the electricity distribution and/or transmission industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge across distribution asset classes, including cables, overhead lines, substations, and civil works, with competence to take responsibility for works from low voltage up to and including 66 kilovolts.
  • Experience managing major projects and high-volume workstreams, including projects typically valued above £5 million.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • HNC or equivalent qualifications may be considered.
  • NEBOSH or an equivalent qualification in safety management.
  • Experience working on CDM-notifiable projects.
Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, and deliver project works from feasibility through completion while ensuring compliance with grid standards, systems, and licence obligations.
  • Use and comply with client procedures, business systems, and data and asset systems.
  • Undertake site investigations and develop compliant engineering solutions and designs.
  • Produce firm cost proposals, quotations, and validated estimates for connection offers.
  • Specify and order equipment and plant, and manage supplier and contractor interfaces.
  • Review designs, ICP submissions, and supplier tenders; attend factory acceptance testing and witness testing.
  • Project-manage works across the whole or part lifecycle to time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Administer contracts, tenders, mobilisation, and ongoing contract management.
  • Develop and manage programmes and provide regular progress and cost forecasts to the client.
  • Lead project teams and meetings and manage stakeholders and customer engagement.
  • Ensure delivery meets client quality, safety, including CDM duties, and environmental standards.
  • Undertake audits and site inspections and contribute to client audit programmes.
  • Identify and manage project risks and resource requirements.
  • Maintain client operational authorisations for substation access and supervision.
  • Update asset records and support portfolio resource planning.

Wiemelt brings over 35 years of leadership experience in the nuclear and energy sectors, with expertise in programme management, environmental remediation and strategic planning. Wiemelt previously served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Jacobs, where she led the company's global Energy, Security and Technology business unit. In that role, she managed a portfolio exceeding $1.5 billion in annual revenue and over 8,000 employees worldwide. She has also served on numerous industry and corporate boards.
