The Job:
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator will work with the EHS Supervisor to provide direction and insight for all departments throughout the Shelby facility to ensure safe work practices and environments and reduce workplace accidents and injuries. This position will provide coordination of the day-to-day environmental and safety requirements and drive safety awareness and objectives throughout the facility.
As an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator, you’ll be part of our Outdoor team located in Shelby, OH.
- This role is a first shift, salaried non-exempt position – though flexibility is key when working within a 3-shift operation
- Lead and manage environmental and safety teams to identify and implement environmental safety and health opportunities to ensure compliance with regulations, reduce and prevent accidents and occupational illnesses, and adequately respond to emergency situations and security issues
- Complete routine Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) tasks and inspections for regulatory and internally driven EHS programs
- Support the EHS team in the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of EHS programs
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve environmental and safety awareness and work practices, reduce process risks and prevent accidents, ensure compliance, and develop and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor environmental compliance issues and provide assistance with workplace safety matters
- Perform routine hazardous waste management activities.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and trainings to convey and/or gathering information required to perform job functions
- Maintain compliance records for health and safety and sustainability
- Help with worker’s compensation claims, escalation, reporting and follow-up
The Person:

- A minimum of 2 years of higher education in a science related major OR 2 years of industrial EHS related work experience
- Experience evaluating environmental health and safety related risks within manufacturing or DC environment
- OSHA certification, HAZMAT/DOT training preferred
- Experience using standard office software programs, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and audiovisual presentations
