Overview
Supporting Program Managers to lead an in-house team of engineers from various disciplines in the successful planning, execution and completion of technical projects. You will play a vital role in coordinating product development projects and the activities of various project stakeholders in a high-paced and global business environment.
Lumentum is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative student to join the Optical Communication Transport Engineering team in Ottawa, Ontario.
Role and Responsibilities
- Take ownership of your own projects and as the lead project manager for hardware and software based projects, with support from the Program Manager
- Define and document project scope, schedule, goals and deliverables in collaboration with the Program Manager and stakeholders
- Develop and create the project structure in JIRA and Confluence
- Support the development and implementation of a broad, coordinated set of plans and programs to meet the goals and priorities of Lumentum
- Regularly collaborate with the Program Manager to monitor and control project schedules with engineering teams and communicate project status (technical and programmatic) to stakeholders and management
- Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
- Support the development process by initiating and tracking the program’s material procurement
Required Skills
- Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business with an interest in Project or Program Management
- Excellent leadership skills, combining critical thinking with empathetic and diplomatic communication
- Demonstrated ability to form collaborative and cooperative working relationships in all interactions
- Ability to work in ambiguous situations and define a path to resolution
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, motivated team player, self-starter and detail-oriented
Any of the following would be considered a strong asset:
- Working knowledge of Miro, Confluence, JIRA, Oracle, Agile, or Tableau
- Organized and motivated individual with attention to detail
- Ability to operate effectively in highly technical and multi project environment
- Structured Project Management certifications such as PMI (CAPM), PRINCE2, Scrum, Six Sigma
