About the role

Individual can serve as an individual Subject Matter Expert Principal Software Engineer/Manager with a focus on designing, building, and integrating Generative AI capabilities within AIG’s global software portfolio.  In their capacity, individual will manage the Software Development Lifecycle including the design, implement, test and integrate the application or software through a DevOps and Agile manner.
 

Individual serves as an Individual Contributor SME that focuses on one core area of SDLC:

What you need to know:

Strategic Project Execution: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering technology initiatives on time, within budget, and to specified quality standards. Develops delivery roadmaps that align with enterprise technology strategy and business objectives.

Knowledge of Claims Processing is nice to have but not mandatory : An understanding of Claims processes, systems, and pain points, paired with the ability to drive scalable technology change.

Knowledge of PEGA Technology is nice to have : Important to have knowledge on how to integrate and enhance business processes using PEGA or a comparable platform where applicable.

Cross Functional Skill-set: Ability to work cross-functionally with IT, Claims Operations, and Claims business leaders to define priorities, gather requirements, and deliver impactful solutions.

Ideation and Requirements: Brainstorming ideas that solve the problem faced by the target user; interacting with stakeholders and users to collect and document project requirements in close partnership with the IT Business Relationship Owners.
 

Design: Creates the architecture of a software system and its element, in close partnership with the Enterprise Architecture standard and guidelines.
 

Development: Oversees the writing of the code for the software using the relevant programming language.
 

Maintenance: Prepares to hand off the support of the software after it has been delivered to the market, to the IT Production Support team.

People Management:  Coordination with consultants from partner organizations or Individual Contributor

What we’re looking for:

Scope and Impact:

• Guides team members  in strategy, alignment, analysis, and execution tasks.
• Leads activities around modern software design and development core practices.
• Builds relationships with technology leaders at other companies to learn best practices and elegant solutions to common problems.
• Proficient in front-end technologies such as JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js
• Expert in back-end technologies like Node.js, Java, .NET, or Python
• Experienced with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Experienced with PEGA PRPC Infinity case management

Problem Solving:

• Identifies and resolves the most complex problems/issues/ assignments and identify barriers hindering operations.
• Leverages expert problem- solving skills and techniques.
• Responsible for creatively resolving unclear situations utilizing the highest level of expertise in specialized field.

Autonomy and Decision Making:

• Applies expert analysis techniques in area of specialization to make decisions.
• Decision-making authority may extend beyond both area of specialization and unit/team.
• Sets priorities and/or sequence of task to achieve objectives with little to no oversight.

Leadership:

• Coordinates daily activities of immediate work group/team.
• Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion.
• Provides technical guidance to employees.

Knowledge Expertise:

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the Software Development Lifecycle, DevOps and Agile methodologies. Mastery of workflow solutions like PEGA; Mastery of a modern web application frameworks; Mastery of writing queries against relational and non-relational databases; Mastery of modern product development processes and pipelines; Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques; Proficient in effective system monitoring and log analysis techniques.

Education and Years of Experience:

Undergraduate degree in a relevant field or proven record of experience in technology roles with required years of experience. 10+ years of experience in technology field / programming / design / application delivery; 5+ years in technical leadership positions. PEGA certifications (CSA, CSSA, or LSA) are a plus
