  • Ph.D. in communication, mass communication, journalism, or a related field
  • Associate Professor: must possess a terminal degree, demonstrate ability as an instructor or researcher, and provide evidence of an established reputation in scholarly, artistic, or professional achievement
  • Professor: must possess the same qualifications as the associate professor, plus evidence of a substantial record of advanced research and/or creative work, and leadership in the field of specialization; this rank reserved for persons of proven stature in teaching and/or research
Responsibilities
  • Mentor graduate students who are interested in studying climate communication
  • Engage in teaching and service duties for the Bellisario College and Penn State
  • Assume a key role in interdisciplinary research collaborations related to climate change on Penn State’s campus as the position is co-funded by Penn State University’s Institute of Energy and the Environment
  • Promote and enhance excellence and innovation in interdisciplinary research as the hire will also be a part of Penn State’s Climate Consortium
  • The successful candidate’s departmental affiliation will be determined based on the candidate’s teaching experience and area of focus; the successful candidate will be eligible for appointment to the Bellisario College’s graduate-program faculty
