Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of construction supervision experience in a major healthcare center or another organization with similar responsibilities is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required.
  • Knowledge of using computerized maintenance management systems to organize and track staff work performance is required.
  • Availability 24/7 via pager is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and ensure the efficient delivery of General Construction, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing projects and repairs throughout the facility.
  • Review all construction documents.
  • Manage contractors and coordinate activities with Facilities and Hospital staff.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of General Construction, Architectural, and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing building systems and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Supervise construction projects for the Office of Engineering Facilities Operations.
  • Provide design and construction support services to various hospital departments.
  • Review and monitor Office of Facilities Development construction projects to ensure hospital standards are met and projects coordinate properly with the existing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with New York City Building Code, Department of Health requirements, construction policies and procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with curricula for commissioning and acceptance of General Construction and Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems and project closeout requirements.
  • Survey construction areas before and after construction as required.
  • Coordinate field changes with outside consultants and in-house staff.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of materials and equipment.
  • Participate in vendor selection and prepare purchase requisitions.
  • Review completed job orders.
  • Ensure all work is captured in the computerized maintenance management system in a timely manner.
  • Attend and participate in weekly scheduling meetings with the Planner/Schedulers.
  • Work closely with maintenance and operations shops.
  • Prepare departmental status reports on work and project activities for senior departmental management.
  • Participate in preparing and tracking the operating budget, monthly variance reports, bid proposals, and the procurement process.
