Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for designing, testing, developing, installing and maintaining equipment and automated controls systems use to increase efficiency and productivity within the water treatment and waste water reclamation processes.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Performs test on the systems and equipment thoroughly.
- After testing, will work closely with technicians to program, install, maintain, and calibrate these systems and equipment.
- Must be prepared to address problems remotely or in person by traveling to the physical sites as necessary.
- Provides input for the modification of existing or create new I&E / PCT procedures, standards, and practices to stay current with technology and implement improved methods targeting the needs of the water utility sites.
- Oversee the installation, reception, and configuration of SCADA servers, networks, and other operation technology equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment and software to repair and diagnose any malfunctions in the system along with continuously maintaining and upgrading the SCADA systems
- Monitor automation control system alarms, meter data and communication errors
- Troubleshoot programmable logic controller circuits
- Monitor instrumentation and control systems for programing errors that could alter the water treatment and quality for the plant

- Prepare instrumentation diagrams, process control narratives, instrument lists, and input/output lists as part of project design and ongoing maintenance
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related field) and typically 8+ years of related work experience. Professional Engineer registration may be required.
- Experience with various SCADA applications, HMI Software including Ignition, VTScada, Wonderware, iFix.
- Experience with these PLC platforms: Allen-Bradley, Modicon, SCADAPack, Siemens, and GE.
- Experience with these PLC programing language: Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Sequential Function Charts, Structured Text, Instruction List.
- Experience handling projects that involve multiple applications, including SCADA, device controls and sensors, telecommunications networks, and related systems
- Experience with the creation and programing of SCADA screens
- Experience in providing field support and participating in equipment testing, loop checks and start-up of process control installations
- Strong computer hardware and software skills
- Excellent knowledge of relevant national standards in the area of process control, low voltage electrical, instrumentation and radio telemetry

- Knowledge of project control skills including project planning, scheduling and cost control
- Ability to work as a member of cross-functional teams and to participate in multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to deal with people at different levels of management, engineering, maintenance, operations, technology and vendors
- Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate with and obtain cooperation from team members
- Excellent knowledge of process control documentation, automation validation, quality assurance, etc. ;
- Excellent knowledge of process control strategies, systems and industrial control networks
- Excellent knowledge of process instrumentation
- Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive technical and scope documents required for project execution
- Provides technical oversight and mentorship for less experienced instrumentation and controls staff.
- Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems
- Knowledge of telemetry and radio communication systems

Salary Range:
