Solid Power develops and produces all-solid-state battery cells for electric vehicles. Its batteries use sulfide-based solid electrolytes that combine high ionic conductivity with the ability to be manufactured defect-free on standard roll-to-roll battery production equipment, enabling batteries that are safer, lighter, and capable of higher energy density. This makes Solid Power’s packs potentially cheaper and longer-lasting, differentiating it from traditional lithium-ion systems that rely on liquid electrolytes and more complex manufacturing steps. The company collaborates with automakers such as BMW and Ford and partners like SK Innovation, aiming to scale automotive-scale production. Its goal is to help enable longer-range, lower-cost, and safer EVs through solid-state battery technology.

Solid Power reported a second-quarter net loss of $23.8 million, or $0.11 per share, as the solid-state battery materials company continued investing in electrolyte development and production capabilities. Revenue for the quarter was negative $300,000, primarily due to a $1.2 million reversal of first-quarter revenue following changed assumptions about milestone payments under its SK On research and development licence agreement. Year-to-date revenue totalled $2.8 million. Installation of Solid Power's continuous electrolyte production pilot line remained on schedule. Equipment acceptance testing is expected to complete in the third quarter, with plant validation and operational startup anticipated in the fourth quarter. Once commissioned, the line is expected to have capacity of 45 metric tonnes, with output anticipated in the first quarter of 2027.
Solid Power has appointed Uwe Breitweg, BMW Group's Vice President Powertrain, Emission and Battery Strategy, to its board of directors, effective 1 July 2026. The appointment reinforces BMW's strategic partnership with the solid-state battery technology developer. Breitweg brings over 20 years of automotive leadership experience, having held his current role since 2021. Previously, he served as Vice President Powertrain Systems Industrial Customers at BMW from 2016 to 2021. Solid Power is developing solid-state battery technology using sulfide-based solid electrolyte material, aiming to deliver extended range, longer life, improved safety and lower costs compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. The company's business model focuses on selling electrolyte to cell manufacturers and licensing its designs and manufacturing processes.
Anthro Energy strengthens manufacturing leadership. 08 Jun 2026 Anthro Energy has named Hyungrak Kim as its new Executive Vice President of Manufacturing, bringing more than 25 years of expertise in advanced battery materials, electrolyte innovation, and large-scale production. His background includes senior roles at Solid Power and Dongwha Electrolyte, where he helped shape major developments in next-generation battery technologies. In his new position, Kim will oversee production strategy and scale-up for Anthro Energy's advanced polymer electrolyte platform and its high-performance lithium-ion cells. These activities span the company's facilities in Alameda, California, and Louisville, Kentucky. The appointment aligns with Anthro Energy's wider push to expand domestic manufacturing capacity as demand rises for safer, more robust batteries across defence, robotics, embodied AI, wearables, and cutting-edge electronics. Before joining Anthro Energy, Kim served as EVP of Electrolyte Technologies at Solid Power, contributing to progress in sulfide solid electrolyte development and leading pilot-scale engineering programmes. Earlier in his career, he directed manufacturing operations at Dongwha Electrolyte, a major global supplier of lithium-ion battery materials. Kim is recognised as a leading voice on topics such as scaling next-generation materials, manufacturing challenges in advanced electrolytes, and the importance of compatibility in commercialisation. He also speaks extensively on domestic supply chain resilience and the future of safer, mechanically durable batteries for robotics and wearables, defence systems, and embodied AI. His arrival signals Anthro Energy's intent to accelerate commercial readiness while strengthening the U.S. battery manufacturing ecosystem.
Solid Power, a developer of solid-state battery technology, reported first-quarter 2026 combined revenue and grant income of $3.1 million on 5 May, driven by an SK On site-acceptance milestone and progress under a US Department of Energy agreement. The company ended the quarter with approximately $435.3 million in total liquidity, including $121.3 million in net proceeds from a registered direct offering. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Louisville, Solid Power specialises in sulfide-based solid-state batteries designed to replace flammable liquid electrolytes in traditional lithium-ion batteries. On 16 March, H.C. Wainwright initiated coverage with a Buy rating and $7 price target. Management said the company's liquidity position provides sufficient runway to fund technology development initiatives, including construction of its SP2.5 production line.
Solid Power reported Q1 2026 revenue and grant income of $3.1 million, down nearly 50% year over year. The decline resulted from the completion of its SK On line installation agreement, which had driven Q1 2025 revenue. Management indicated future revenue will shift towards electrolyte supply and new partnerships. Net loss narrowed to $13.0 million, or $0.06 per share, from $15.2 million in Q1 2025, though operating loss widened slightly to $26.3 million. The company completed site acceptance testing for SK On's pilot cell line, meaning its technology now operates on production lines across three continents—at its Colorado facility and partner sites in Germany and South Korea. Solid Power develops solid-state batteries for electric vehicles, producing solid electrolyte materials and cells designed to improve energy density and safety over conventional lithium-ion batteries.
