Requirements
  • Experience working with C++ codebases, or other systems languages and demonstrated ability
  • Good debugging skills. Experience with live systems (via logging and interrogation) and examining core files
  • Basic knowledge of Python, to use and enhance testing
  • Experience in git
  • Demonstrated ability to understand large codebases and develop new features
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the global Ceph open-source, multi-company engineering team to develop and enhance CephFS
  • Attend online meetings, participate in email lists and online chat rooms, prepare written documentation, and give presentations about your work
  • Work proactively with other team members and the community to develop your own knowledge and mentor new contributors
  • Contribute to the development of CephFS by designing and implementing new functionalities that enable innovative use cases
  • Identify and fix bugs and propose performance enhancements
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with data storage and/or file systems
  • Experience building distributed systems
  • Experience working on distributed teams is a plus
  • Past contribution to open source projects is favorable
  • Linux kernel experience is a plus

IBM Sells Turkish Subsidiary for $135B

IBM, one of the world's largest tech companies, sold its Turkish subsidiary, Seri Bilgi Teknolojileri, to Destek Bilgisayar. This acquisition, initially reported last year, has now been officially approved. IBM, with assets over $135 billion and revenue of $62 billion, had established Seri in 2002.
