Enveritas provides sustainability assurance for the coffee and cocoa industries. It conducts on-site farm assessments by visiting smallholder farms across 25+ countries (60,000+ farms annually) to evaluate social, economic, and environmental practices. The assurance is offered at no cost to farmers and is used by roasters and chocolate companies to understand and improve supply chain sustainability. The company leverages geospatial analysis to enhance verification accuracy and efficiency. Unlike firms that only audit facilities or rely on remote data, Enveritas combines hands-on farm visits with advanced geospatial tools to cover smallholders regardless of farm size or location. Its approach helps farmers access high-value markets by meeting sustainability standards, with a goal of broad participation in a sustainable coffee and cocoa market. In 2023, partners supported over 230,000 farmers in 20 countries through more than 100 projects.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • DR Wakefield selected Enveritas in November 2025 for EUDR readiness.
  • Tchibo reported 27% responsible sourcing in April 2026, expanding Enveritas workload.
  • EU-backed Zimbabwe assessment in August 2026 shows Enveritas is becoming market infrastructure.

What critics are saying

  • Tchibo's 2027 target concentrates revenue; losing it would crush Enveritas credibility.
  • EUDR demand can fade after 2027 if roasters treat Enveritas as a temporary fix.
  • Any farm-data integrity scandal would destroy trust across coffee and cocoa buyers.

What makes Enveritas unique

  • Enveritas verifies coffee farms directly; Tchibo relies on it through 2027.
  • Its geospatial, on-the-ground audits reach 350,000 smallholder farms worldwide by 2025.
  • Nonprofit structure lowers adoption friction for roasters chasing EUDR compliance.
