- Conducting security training and education
- Use JPAS, DISS and Scattered Castles to perform personnel security functions
- Courier classified materials
- Create, coordinate and distribute security and safety communications
- Develop, administer, and maintain Standard Operating Policies/Procedures for classified facilities as well as classified and/or proprietary materials, documentation, and equipment
- Accredit and audit open storage areas in secure facilities
- Maintain, monitor, arm, and disarm the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and review IDS reports
- Conduct safety and security inspections as required
- Study, understand, and implement DoD and Army security regulations, policies, and procedures
- Prepare manuals; outline regulations and establish procedures for handling, storing, and keeping records
- Grant personnel and visitors access to restricted records and materials
- Investigate security violations and prepare reports specifying preventive actions to be taken
- Serve as COMSEC Local Element authorized to control COMSEC for systems within SCIF
