Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD).
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensure as an attorney through the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Successful completion of required employment background checks.
Responsibilities
  • Research the law and provide legal advice, consultation, and representation to Penn State Health and its affiliates.
  • Advise on, negotiate, draft, edit, review, and execute legal documents, including contracts, agreements, memoranda, correspondence, responses, and notices.
  • Evaluate claim merit before litigation and assist outside counsel during litigation.
  • Work with the General Counsel to define strategies for defending Penn State Health or filing actions on its behalf.
  • Advise when matters require outside counsel retention and retain and supervise outside counsel.
  • Assist in developing institutional policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Represent the Office of General Counsel on system-wide committees.
  • Keep abreast of changes in the law and review new statutes, regulations, and opinions.
