POSITION SPECIFICS
The Office of General Counsel, Penn State Health, provides legal counsel and representation to Penn State Health (PSH) and its affiliates on a broad array of healthcare related matters, with duties to include:
- Research the law and provide legal advice, consultation, and representation to PSH and its affiliates
- Advise on, negotiate, draft, edit, review, and execute legal documents including contracts, agreements, memoranda, correspondence, responses, and notices
- Evaluate claim merit before litigation, and assist outside counsel during litigation
- Work with General Counsel to define strategies for defending Penn State Health, or for filing actions on behalf of Penn State Health
- Advise when matters require outside counsel retention, and retain and supervise outside counsel
- Assist in developing institutional policies, procedures, and programs
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations
- Represent the Office of General Counsel on system-wide committees
- Keep abreast of changes in the law; review new statutes, regulations, and opinions
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Juris Doctor (JD)
3+ years of relevant experience
Required Certifications:
Licensed Attorney - Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $150,204.00 - $232,776.00.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
