Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Three years of directly related experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
  • Active CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • Knowledge of EPIC software is required, with possible responsibility as an EPIC super user.
  • All training and competency requirements must be met.
  • The role requires analytical thinking to analyze information, coordinate work within schedule constraints, and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
  • Effective written and verbal communication is required.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vital signs, weight, history, chief complaint, medications, and allergies, and document them appropriately in the electronic medical record.
  • Administer injections and perform simple diagnostic tests and Point of Care Testing.
  • Collect specimens and sterilize and clean equipment.
  • Maintain examination rooms at the outpatient care site.
  • Report pertinent findings to physicians and communicate necessary patient information to the physician in a timely manner.
  • Manage patient appointments according to physician schedules and protocols.
  • Answer patient messages according to clinic policy.
  • Handle medication refills or requests according to clinic policy.
  • Prepare charts for the next scheduled clinic and provide physicians with requested test results, laboratory results, and medical records.
  • Handle external and internal phone calls and assist the department call center by transferring calls to the appropriate departments.
  • Participate as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing patient care.
  • Support documentation of patient records as directed by the physician or provider.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Active CMA or RMA certification is preferred.
