Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent experience is required.
  • Previous experience as a painter in an industrial or manufacturing environment is required, including knowledge of proper painting techniques and spray-gun setup for adequate coverage.
  • The ability to understand, speak, read, and write English is required, including understanding verbal and written work instructions, health and safety procedures, documenting work, orienting others, problem solving, learning new processes, and participating in team meetings.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team is required.
  • The ability to lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds and to move, bend, twist, or maintain awkward body positions while working is required.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and muscular control are required to operate tools and equipment, see closely, and listen intently to achieve detailed results and detect flaws or errors.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with personal safety, security, environmental practices, the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act are required.
  • The ability to wear a respirator and required personal protective equipment in the paint booth is required, including a protective suit, safety glasses, and CSA-approved safety footwear.
Responsibilities
  • Apply powder coatings to finished products and components using manual and automated painting systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adjust spray-gun nozzles to obtain proper spray dispersion and monitor paint flow and viscosity.
  • Evaluate products for flaws, bubbles, and imperfections according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Use a mill gauge and monitor pressure amounts.
  • Clean paint lines, the stain booth, and paint guns, and perform preventative maintenance to keep painting equipment operational.
  • Comply with company health and safety policies and procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in conjunction with afternoon-shift employees as needed.
  • Provide Standard Operating Procedure process familiarization and orientation.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
  • The successful candidate may be assigned to other production areas based on operational requirements.

The deal strengthens Haworth's Canadian presence and manufacturing capabilities after over 50 years operating in the country. Founded in 1975, Tayco will continue operating independently under president Bill Melnik and its senior management team, maintaining existing customer relationships and dealer partnerships. The company is recognised for its world-class production expertise in office furniture, storage, casegoods and seating from its Toronto facility.
