Requirements
  • An Associate's degree in veterinary technology and at least 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • New York State licensure or eligibility to become licensed in New York State.
  • A robust clinical skillset, including the ability to identify patients in crisis and immediately notify the clinician.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a positive learning environment for students, clinicians, and peer technicians.
  • Ability to complete work fully and on time.
  • Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire.
Responsibilities
  • Assist students and clinicians assigned to the Critical Care Service with morning and afternoon patient physical examinations and treatments.
  • Schedule, organize, set up, and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed on patients.
  • Facilitate patient admission and discharge to and from patient care units on behalf of the Critical Care Service.
  • Act as a mentor and teacher for students on rotation.
  • Provide floating backup coverage to the nursing care units and other services in the Companion Animal Hospital as determined and assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience with providing intermediate to advanced clinical treatments to hospitalized patients.
