Requirements
  • Applicants must have recently received a Ph.D. in the Life Sciences.
  • Experience in gene regulation, in vitro transcription, RNA biochemistry, protein-RNA interaction, protein-protein interaction, and/or bioinformatics analysis of transcriptomics data is required.
  • Applications must include a cover letter containing a description of past accomplishments, research interests and goals, as well as a curriculum vitae that includes a list of publications, conference presentations, and contact information for three referees.
Responsibilities
  • Study transcription and/or post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in B. subtilis and E. coli.
  • Explore fundamental mechanisms that control RNA polymerase pausing and termination.
  • Explore regulation of gene expression by transcription attenuation and translational control mechanisms.
  • Conduct structural studies of RNA polymerase using cryo-electron microscopy.
  • Use genome-wide approaches to identify novel RNA-based regulatory mechanisms using RNET-seq, Term-seq, and Structure-seq.
