Forlex goes beyond lawyers and opens legal AI to the general public.

Forlex goes beyond lawyers and opens legal AI to the general public. The tool will be free and integrated with WhatsApp, aiming to answer everyday legal questions in plain language. 26/05/2026 15:36 Brazilian deeptech Forlex, specialized in developing AI for the legal sector, announced this Tuesday (26) the launch of LIVIA Citizen, a free legal assistant aimed at the general public and integrated with WhatsApp. The move follows a partnership with the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), in which the startup made its AI platform, called LIVIA, available to the entire base of 1.5 million professionals across the country enrolled in the Order. Now, the new tool was created to answer, in simple language and without legalese, citizens' questions about labor rights, INSS (National Social Security Institute), FGTS (Service Time Guarantee Fund), and even the impacts of the Tax Reform on Brazilians' daily lives. The announcement also comes less than a month after Forlex signed a $32 million agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to expand its technological infrastructure. One of the goals of the partnership was precisely to enable the advancement of the company's own artificial intelligence models developed for analyzing legal texts, contracts, court documents, and evidence. The choice of WhatsApp as the main channel was not random. Besides being widely used in Brazil, the platform, according to Forlex, expands access for people with disabilities, especially users with speech or mobility limitations, which helps make legal assistance more inclusive. In a statement, the deeptech mentioned that LIVIA Citizen works as a "gateway" to basic legal guidance, allowing anyone to clear doubts without needing technical knowledge of Law. The solution uses connections to databases of 81 Brazilian courts to provide its answers. "The tax reform should significantly increase the need for accessible legal information for the population and small businesses. Brazilians will have to deal with new rules, changes in charges, services, and consumption, but without necessarily understanding their impacts on daily life. LIVIA Citizen emerges to translate this complexity into practical and accessible language," points out Daniel Bichuetti, co-founder, co-CEO, and CTO of Forlex. It is worth noting that the platform will not analyze specific cases nor issue opinions, petitions, or procedural recommendations. According to Forlex, the proposal is that the tool functions as an initial layer of legal guidance, without replacing the work of lawyers. "Most people only seek legal guidance when the problem is already out of control. LIVIA Citizen was created to operate before that: as a layer of accessible, simple, and free information, helping citizens understand what the law says and, mainly, when they really need to seek a lawyer," adds the co-founder. Amazon to sponsor Trunks across the Thames art trail. Trunks across the Thames will run from July 13 to September 13 (Image: Thames Hospice) A herd of elephant sculptures will parade through Windsor and Slough this summer as part of a major new art trail. The project, Trunks across the Thames, is a Wild in Art event organised by Thames Hospice and will run from July 13 to September 13, 2026, featuring 30 colourfully decorated elephants on public display. Thames Hospice has announced Amazon as the headline partner for the trail. Dr Rachael de Caux, chief executive of Thames Hospice, said: "Slough Observer is so excited to announce Amazon as a headline partner for Trunks across the Thames. "Their support reflects a shared belief in the power of community, connection and compassion." Amazon will sponsor a sculpture titled 'Keeper of Memories,' designed by artist and illustrator Sam Morris. This fairy-tale inspired elephant will be displayed in Windsor Great Park alongside four others. Carley Graham Garcia, principal of worldwide community engagement at Amazon, said: "Creativity has the power to bring people together, and that's exactly what Trunks across the Thames will do. "Slough Observer is thrilled to be a headline partner for this incredible public art installation. "Thames Hospice does extraordinary work in this community, and we're excited to help bring their mission to even more people this summer." In addition to Amazon, Iron Mountain Data Centers and several other businesses are supporting the event. The trail aims to raise funds and awareness for Thames Hospice.

Amazon blocks sideloading on new Fire Sticks with proprietary Vega OS

Amazon's newest Fire Sticks will no longer support sideloading of apps from outside its official app store. The company updated its developer website to confirm that all future Fire TV Sticks, starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select released in October, will run on Vega OS, Amazon's proprietary operating system that blocks unofficial apps. The newly announced Fire TV Stick HD includes a notice stating the device prevents sideloading for "enhanced security". Vega OS only permits apps published in the Amazon Appstore, though developers can still sideload on registered devices. Amazon's shift from Fire OS, an Android fork that allowed sideloading, comes amid pressure from anti-piracy groups. The move gives Amazon greater control whilst limiting access to third-party apps, affecting users who expanded device functionality beyond Amazon's ecosystem.

Goldman Sachs cuts Amazon price target to $275 amid $200B AI spending concerns

Goldman Sachs has lowered its price target on Amazon to $275 from $280 whilst maintaining a Buy rating ahead of the company's earnings report on 30 April 2026. The revised target still implies upside from the current share price of around $240. Analyst Eric Sheridan highlighted four key areas shaping Amazon's trajectory: AWS cloud revenue growth and AI investment returns, rising energy prices affecting margins, the commercialisation timeline for Amazon Leo, and the fast-growing advertising platform. Amazon's AI push through AWS has reached an annualised revenue run rate exceeding $15 billion, whilst its chip business surpassed $20 billion in revenue with triple-digit growth. However, capital expenditures could approach $200 billion in fiscal 2026, pressuring free cash flow despite strong overall performance showing net sales of $716.9 billion and operating income of $80 billion for the full year.
