Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structure Engineering, Naval Architect, or related engineering disciplines is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in planning, construction, and structural design, specializing in Topside Module Structure, is required.
  • Experience with a wide range of offshore Topside structures, including FPSO, FPU, and Jacket structures, is required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, STAAP, SACS, and other common industry Topside structure analysis software is required.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Topside structure design are required.
  • Ability to perform engineering analysis techniques using tools and software applications used in Topside structural engineering is required.
  • Ability to perform required analysis and deliver class-approved documents and Topside structural drawings is required.
  • Ability to check, review, and comment on Topside structure basic design and detail drawings is required.
  • Familiarity with Topside structure material codes, standards, and specifications, including material selection, material take-off, and material procurement, is required.
  • Knowledge of Topside Structure design codes and standards, including AISC and API, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Review the preparation of key project documentation, including project construction specifications, project execution plans, equipment data sheets, bid packages, and contract construction documentation.
  • Review and check rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from team members for basic structural design using engineering networks, software, and tools.
  • Lead discussions with the team, other engineering teams including stability and mooring, general design, and weight control, subcontractors, and consultants on technical issues and design solutions.
  • Direct the team responsible for verification and validation of final structural design drawings for structural fabrication and construction in EPCC projects.
  • Lead project meetings, attend to technical queries and issues related to basic structural design, and review design deliverables for project facilities, fabrication, transportation, and installation.
  • Liaise with owners, statutory authorities, and classification authorities for design compliance review and approval of proposed project plans.
  • Generate work-progress reports and submit them to senior team members for review and approval before submission to owners, statutory authorities, and classification authorities.
  • Direct the team's progress in delivering structural requirements for projects from conceptual front-end engineering design through detailed engineering activities.
  • Independently perform studies on offshore structures and vessels, analyzing basic structural design suitability for operational needs and environmental settings such as near-shore, shallow-water, and mid-water conditions.
  • Check design calculations, including longitudinal and hull strength scantling and steel materials, prepared by team members using standard engineering techniques and practices.
  • Independently formulate welding plans, specifications, drawings, and sequences for joints and structural members, including the main-structure non-destructive testing plan, structural tank-test plan, and structural categorization.
  • Review structural analyses of the main structure based on engineering sketches, specifications, related data, and drawings to ensure design adequacy of structural members and details in the foundational framework.
  • Perform constructability reviews related to the Project Execution Plan based on the three-dimensional model and structural basic or detailed design drawings.

Ge Vernova And Seatrium Consortium Awarded Third Contract To Build Hvdc System For Tennet?S Offshore Grid Project In The Netherlands

Monday, 10 June 2024The project is expected to begin in June 2024, with commissioning expected by 2031. The contract is part of the five-year Framework Cooperation Agreement with TenneT announced by the GE Vernova-Seatrium consortium in March 2023. The agreement was signed to cover three projects, each valued at approximately EURO 2 billion: IJmuiden Ver Beta, IJmuiden Ver Gamma, and Nederwiek 2. The current contract is for Nederwiek 2, TenneT’s third project with this consortium. The contracts for IJmuiden Ver Beta and IJmuiden Ver Gamma were awarded to the consortium in March 2023.The HVDC system will support TenneT's sustainability goal of connecting 40 GW of offshore wind energy in the German and Dutch North Sea and will serve the Nederwiek 2 offshore wind farm, located approximately 95 kilometres off the coast of the Netherlands.“With the successful call-off of Nederwiek 2 from the Framework Cooperation Agreement with our Partners GE Vernova and Seatrium, we are now starting into the delivery of the third project with this consortium” said Dr. Johannes Kammer, Associate Director of Large Projects Offshore - 2GW, TenneT
