Requirements
  • An Associate of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
  • A current, unencumbered Indiana Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Faculty must meet the applicable nursing faculty credentials outlined in the Academic Support and Operations Manual for the specific area of instruction.
  • Faculty with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing must have a written academic plan for completion of a Master’s degree in nursing within one semester of initial appointment and provide documentation each semester showing progress toward completion.
  • Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction is required.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver assigned nursing clinical courses.
  • Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the school.
  • Perform instructional duties to facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide the syllabus to students and follow its content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records.
  • Submit requested information within established timelines.
  • Address student concerns and consult with the program chair to resolve issues.
  • Meet all scheduled classes of the contracted course.
  • Use classroom technology such as Canvas and PowerPoint as appropriate.
  • Notify the program chair in the event of an emergency.
  • Conduct work activities in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
  • Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, using technology for academic advising alerts and providing interventions, tutoring, academic supports, and referrals to college resources.
  • Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy.
  • Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful program completion, including outreach by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.

  • Writing and grammar skills.
  • Ability to communicate concepts to students to assist in their learning.
  • Ability to organize tasks and establish priorities with little or no direct supervisor input.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
