Requirements
  • A degree in building science, mechanical engineering, sustainability, or another related field, and/or industry certifications such as CEM, BPI, LEED, or other related credentials.
  • Previous experience in and knowledge of building science obtained through work in utility energy efficiency programs, HVAC design or installation, construction, or other related businesses.
  • Aptitude for learning industry jargon and technical content and translating it into clear, concise, digestible information.
  • Previous experience in an advisory, educational, or customer service role providing advice or assistance to customers.
  • Familiarity with navigating government or utility incentive programs.
  • Previous experience working as a contractor or engaging with contractors.
  • Ability to travel to locations in Massachusetts as needed.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, both one-to-one and in making presentations to groups.
  • Aptitude in quickly learning and working with software such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and energy modeling tools.
  • A calm, even temperament suited to meeting people with different needs and backgrounds.
  • Adaptable, flexible, collaborative approach and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to proactively manage competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks in a timely and diligent manner.
Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual consultations to residential customers considering decarbonization solutions, with a heavy focus on heat pumps.
  • Help homeowners understand the capabilities and limitations of heat pump technology based on their home’s attributes and their goals for the systems.
  • Help customers understand the basic pros and cons of systems, sizing, design, and installation considerations to maximize the benefits of heat pumps.
  • Use Abode’s proprietary quote review tool to consult virtually with residential customers to compare and evaluate equipment options for adopting heat pumps.
  • Engage with heat pump contractors, distributors, manufacturers, and customers virtually and in the field to provide information about programs and incentives and learn about industry needs.
  • Manage a shared inbox and phone line for contractor inquiries and respond to and help resolve customer and contractor issues.
  • Conduct regular reviews of contractor certifications and follow up as needed to obtain renewed documents.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop new program tools and create or improve resources to meet evolving program needs and technology updates.
  • Stay current with recommended heat pump system design and installation standards and provide fact-based advice to homeowners and contractors.
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phone calls, staffing program inboxes, and conducting data review.
  • Work across multiple programs as responsibilities evolve.
Desired Qualifications
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese as well as English.
  • Industry certifications such as CEM, BPI, LEED, or other related credentials.
