Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
  • A licensed Professional Engineer credential is required.
  • Ten years of related experience is required.
  • Experience with large-scale piping, valve, pumping systems, and treatment technologies is required.
  • The candidate must have process engineering knowledge and experience applying it to water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • The candidate must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated and able to work well with others.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical planning, biological process and mechanical design, and construction support on water and wastewater treatment and resource recovery projects, including combined sewer overflow, collection system, pump station, stormwater, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling projects.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, run process models using Excel spreadsheets, BioWin, and GPS-X, and support analysis of alternatives.
  • Prepare technical memoranda documenting alternative analyses, basis of design, business case evaluations, and P&ID reports.
  • Prepare design reports and construction plans for treatment plants and pump stations using local and state standards.
  • Prepare or assist with specifications and permit submittals.
  • Assist with or review the scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks.
  • Monitor task budgets and progress.
  • Document design changes and communications.
  • Conduct on-site inspections and provide technical guidance for start-up as needed.
  • Prepare project status and other reports.
  • Assist in preparing proposals.
  • Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings, including client progress, plan review, and pre-construction meetings.
  • Maintain client relations and a safe working environment.
  • Participate in the Florida Water Environment Association or a similar organization as a committee member.
  • Publish and present papers at state and national conferences.
  • Serve as an active member of the firm's Water and Wastewater Treatment Practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience developing detailed design plans for treatment projects.
  • Expertise in more than one area of conventional activated sludge wastewater treatment liquid and solid processes, including nitrification and denitrification, chemical or biological phosphorus removal, secondary and tertiary treatment, high-rate disinfection systems, solids handling, and biosolids treatment.
  • Experience assisting with sales efforts for large-scale projects.
