Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five to seven years of network and security experience across routing and switching, data center, wireless, security, virtual private networks, collaboration, virtualization, disaster recovery and high availability, acceleration technologies, and cloud providers or services.
  • Familiarity with NIST standards and controls.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Cisco ISR and ASR routers; Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches; Palo Alto next-generation firewalls; campus network design; Cisco wireless LAN controllers and access points; NAC and Cisco Identity Services Engine; F5 network load balancing; software-defined wide area network technologies; routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP; first-hop redundancy protocols including HSRP, VRRP, and GLBP; VRF implementation and design; VSS and VPC technologies; MPLS WAN infrastructure; IPsec VPN tunnel design, implementation, and support; Palo Alto GlobalProtect user VPN; IPS, IDS, SSL decryption, and URL filtering; enterprise quality of service; IPv4 and IPv6 addressing; scripting and network automation using Python, VBScript, and PowerShell; network monitoring systems; network packet captures; AWS infrastructure including VPCs, security groups, and Direct Connect; and multicloud environments including Azure and GCP.
  • Ability to complete a Government of Canada Reliability Clearance (PERC) and maintain the required clearance throughout employment.
  • Ability to work on site to support campus network environments and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in project-related work and day-to-day operational support as a member of the enterprise network team.
  • Provide general support across campus, data center, and wide area network environments.
  • Provide firewall support, including troubleshooting connectivity requests and VPN tunnels.
  • Complete after-hours changes as needed.
  • Work with customers, stakeholders, and system owners to produce requirements, determine feasibility, analyze cost-benefit requirements, and recommend network design options.
  • Provide training and technical support to users with varying levels of IT knowledge.
  • Deploy, configure, support, administer, and maintain technology components in the IT infrastructure environment.

Omaha's Grapple raises $1M to make data analytics accessible for nontechnical users

Omaha-based Grapple has raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by Invest Nebraska and Nelnet, with participation from MOVE Venture Capital and Nebraska Angels. The startup develops an AI-powered platform that makes data analytics accessible to nontechnical users without requiring data engineering expertise. Founded in 2025 by Jack Sellwood, Grapple's software pulls information from various sources including databases, spreadsheets and apps like Salesforce and Quickbooks. The platform enables sales, marketing and finance teams to compile reports independently, saving businesses time and money. Grapple was recently accepted into California's LAUNCH Accelerator and has secured early customers including Nebraska startups Guardify and Workshop. The company will use the funding to expand its team, marketing efforts and go-to-market strategy whilst remaining based in Omaha.
