Senior Staff Accountant

What you will be doing:

• Perform daily and month-end responsibilities, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliation, and flux analysis.
• Prepare financial reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and ad hoc reports as needed.
•  Accurately complete annual and quarterly NAIC statutory financial statements.
•  Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Data, Finance, and IT.
•  Provide mentorship to junior accounting staff and verify the accuracy of their completed work prior to submission.
•  Contribute to the maintenance of systems and controls that ensure the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
•  Ensure compliance with all external financial regulations for the industry as well as all Company policies and procedures.
•  Assist with the preparation and readiness for financial audits.
•  Participate in a variety of special financial department projects.
•  Perform other duties, as assigned.

What you already have:

Education, Experience, and Licensing:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field or High School diploma and equivalent relevant work experience required.
• 4 years of experience in accounting required.
• Accounting experience within the Homeowner’s P&C Insurance industry preferred.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, ledger, account reconciliation, audit/control procedures, cash, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax, investment accounting, banking and/or accounting systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact on a professional level.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
• Ability to focus on a specific task or multiple tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Proven ability to be adaptable and flexible; adjusting to new requirements or unforeseen issues.
• Ability to collaborate with internal departments to provide the best resolution.
• Proficient in MSO/365 applications such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
