Requirements
  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience.
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
  • Possession of a Certification of Registration as a professional engineer in the State of Washington (or ability to obtain through reciprocity within one year).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems and AutoCAD.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Principal and practices of civil and construction engineering.
  • Principles and practices of project and construction management.
  • Principles and practices of multimodal transportation design.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost and quantity estimates, and bid procedures for public works construction projects.
  • Manage small to medium size projects.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of consultants and review of consultants' design work.
  • Prepare requests for proposals and bids, and review contract bids and proposals.
  • Participate in the development of Six Year Transportation Improvements Plan (TIP).
  • Develop, maintain and update project specifications library, technical procedure manuals and technical standards details for transportation designs.
  • Respond to public or other inquiries relative to engineering policies and procedures on specific projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive studies for system master planning of future expansions; develop proposals relative to projected construction of various public works projects.

  • Experience in civil, transportation, water and sewer, stormwater, signal and lighting and pavement design preferred.
